Voting Question: I have never applied for a home equity loan. Do you know anything about it?

I find plenty of calculators, but I want to actually build my own so I can make it fancy with sliders to balance between lump-sum payout and monthly payments and equity line. Anyone know? Thanks much!

Voting Question: What is todays interest rate on a fixed rate home equity line of credit?

I am asking because I am really nervous about applying for home equity for a roof starting very soon-probably next week.
My roof is leaking.

Voting Question: Is my equity line safe if I enter a deed in lieu???

Is my equity line from my primary home safe I enter a deed in lieu with an investment property I own??. What are my chances they will go behind my money to collect for any difference ??? How can I protect my savings away from my creditor?? If I enter a deed in liue with an investement property I have and it gets resolved, how can I protect my equity line and other savings I have from my creditor to take it away from me, if there is any money difference after they auction the property.???

Voting Question: I have never applied for a home equity loan. Do you know anything about it?

I have a Chase credit card, and they have always kept their word and I applied for a fixed home equity line of credit for 4 yrs. The fixed rate is 7.8%. I am not sure if that is good or not
Should I apply at more than 1 bank? Will other banks, loan companies possibly give me a better fixed rate? My home is paid for. My dad sold it to me for $1 before his death. I only want a fixed rate, not adjustable and asking for $11, 000. for the roof and tuck pointing the chimney and fixing some vents up there.
I desperately need a roof since the house is very, very old. The roof is running water all over the floor.
